The other one was killed by buckshoot pelet at 300m on the high seat.
Crikey! I didn't know buckshot was lethal at such long range! I have some - a box of one and a half ounce SG, although I haven't used any yet. I'll remember to ensure a good backstop when I do!

I don't use them because in Croatia we are not allowed to use it for boar or deer but we can shoot old cars, washing machines and other things haha.
Yes,it can be letal up to 500m especially if someone is hit on the temple, behind the ear or hind brain. That guy was shot on temple and killed on the spot.
Also I tried rws, win, fiocchi and all good brands shooting boar when that was legal but I wasn't satisfied with their performance.Very often they needed a second shot or a few more.

Yes very underestimated, think about it 8.4mm ball, 9of to 32 grams(3.55gram), so each is much heavier than a .22 sub( 2.6gram), traveling at about 1450fps, less likely to deform and very lethal Oh I and there are 12 in your cartridge

Big game guns in Africa look at this as a desireable quality, some under 2000fps, but a massive lump of lead carrying the momentum to penetrate a buffalo deep into the kill zone. There was a big article on it in the gun digest.

At sub 100 yard ranges its knockdown effect on a deer is massive, and yet its overall range at optimum trajectory is less than a 22LR due to the huge wind resistance and weight.

Perhaps the criteria for shooting deer with slugs should be re thought in the UK?

It is easy to see how effective slugs and buckshot are.
Well done Paul, nice site.I shot lots of cars with buckshot and result is always great but in the movies americans always survive behind car door ??????????????
Slugs are good medicine for deer and big big beasts. We should use them for that.
