Alan: I believe that what you have descibed is indeed classic troll behaviour.

Of course he will be revelling in this thread and congratulating himself on his achievements!
Or perhaps just a little unhappy, upon realizing that he's not all there?

I like this idea. it sounds good in theory, rather than give anyone admin/moderator power it seems a little more democratic. Although this forum is a quiet place i wouldn't make it has high as 10, we'd end up canvassing people to 'vote' the bugger off!

Failing that, as MikeB has said, if a troll was identified then we have be resolute in the use of the current ignore function, if someone winds you up add them to your list, do not respond to them, don't get draw into slanging matches and do not pass go (or collect £200).

Mark - I personally thought ten was a little high. However, if it was set at 3, ..... could have banned us all utilising his many guises. Perhaps 6 might be more realistic.

Finn - a good point about the ignore tab. I have put the same person (albeit under three aliases) on my ignore lis, but I will admit to having the odd look. Other posters sometimes quote a Troll, so the ""ignore" doesn't prevent seeing posts.

Can all those who posted above not see that the damage is being continued simply buy prolonging the discussion.

I for one would prefer if you ALL
a) Totally ignored anyone posting offensive posts and
b) Stopped discussing it at length.

Thanks M

I've got agree, for the ignore tab to be totally effective it needs to wipe any trace of that persons post.

MRY: By discussing the possibility of a more effective ignore system maybe a short (ish) discussion now could stop a big problem later. I hope.

MRY - I have mixed feelings on this, but am willing to try.

That's nothing even remotely like a long term solution, and neither is lying low while Ronny@ kicks up a rumpus - MRY. If adults cannot discuss an agreed, and continual problem in public, there's something definately wrong.
