Ammunition storage

Hi there everyone
i've applied for my FAC, 0.22 rimfire for pest cotrol on my farm. Bought my cabinet bolted to the wall. All I would like to know from my learned friends is does my seperate ammunition store (locked) have to be secured to the floor/wall/ceiling ? Waiting for the second visit from Mr Policman to issue the FAC.
Thanks
Paul

Makes sense my little sunflower; if the ammunition is put inside a steel cabinet it won’t be much good if a burglar picks it up and walks off with it, will it.

Thanks for all your advice, received my FAC today, by post ?!?!?! One more question now, my land and a friends land is not specified on the FAC (as applied for), is this normal?
Thanks
Paul

It is normal on a first grant that you are only allowed to use your firearm on the ground shown on the certificate. This is called a closed certificate. Extra land will need approving and adding to certificate once it has been checked by your FEO. Do a good job safety wise when you meet the FEO on site and you could reasonable ask for your certificate to be opened at 3 years, this will allow you to use it anywhere that you consider to be safe. The FEO will need to feel comfortable with your attitude to safety though. Normally certificates are opened at first renewal.

A bit confused.....

Alycidon
Thank you for the information.
My FAC does not specify any land over which to shoot, only "land deemed to be suitable by the FO". I understand this to mean I can shoot over any land approved by the FO, so I can visit a friends farm, approved for shooting, BUT, if I want to shoot over a neighours land that has not been approved, I have to get the FO to check it out.
Is this correct?
Thanks
Paul

Yes you will have to get each bit of land checked by the FEO. I would not shoot anywhere untill you have it from him (the FEO) that it is Ok to do so. Approval on another ticket does not mean you are allowed to shoot it legally.

What I would suggest you do is to gt two or three bits lined up, send the feo the details, owner contact details and a relief map. He can the see if it is hilly or flat before he gets there as well as any footpaths etc. Get him out to do these then put some more in a few months later and get him out again,

After 2 or 3 visits you could at least ask for an open ticket 'to save you the trouble of coming out'.
