Good idea Jonathan about banning EU imports, but our loony leaders in Westminster would never go for that for fear of upsetting some EU cousin state or other. Besides, it wouldn't guarantee the UK remaining Avian 'flu free, because of all the wild migrants who please themselves where and when they go, and over which land they release their guano payloads!

Know what you mean about the eggs with sh1te on 'em - my next door neighbour used to keep a small flock of chickens and a rooster. It was a true symbiotic relationship we had - I chucked all my grass clippings, leftover salad etc. over the fence, and once a week her next door would pass over a dozen of the most gorgeous eggs I've ever tasted. I was very sorry to see the old girls go!

I didn't know Jimmy's Farm was back on - I'll have to watch out for that.

I do, Jonathan - in fact I was there last Sunday. It's funny, but with it being so handy, I don't feel like I've had the day out you get when you have to travel somewhere, if you know what I mean? I'm going to Holmfirth a lot instead of Worsley, but it's still handy if I fancy a lie-in.

I think the opposite, I spend all week on the roads and don't really want to drive much at weekends. Problem is we don't have much in the way of good sporting layouts up here although Westlands at Annan is good. I went to Kelbrook at Christmas and I like that shoot, will be going again. Other than that it's a small club shoot every other Sunday, which I enjoy and has a range of good targets but variety in where you shoot helps your overall performance I think. I've started going off on my own as some of the gang I shoot with just want to go back to the same place all the time. Worsley is probably about 1 1/2 hours drive so not the end of the world, just the bloody M6 yet again.

Well if you ever fancy going and need someone to show you around, give me a shout. You could show me around Kelbrook too, if you like.

With all this understandable concern about bird flu in the press this incident seems to be getting very little attention http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4761024.stm. I wonder if it ate the bird
