No problems with the rifle team; just the pistol team who are not even allowed the same training facilities as the opposition.

Well I still haven't shot the Savage yet. I been SO busy lately I just haven't had the time. But I will try and AT LEAST reload some ammo today or tomorrow. Thanks.

Countryman

PS I also just ordered and received today my new Savage Model 40 in 22 hornet. Looks like a really nice little gun and am also wanting to give it a try. Too bad the brass I ordered did NOT come with the rifle. Jerry's was out I guess so another delay. Oh well that's the way it goes most of the time really. Rats.

Savage 12 F/TR shooting

Hey Group,

Anyone have reload data to share, I am FINALLY getting my scope mount and scope on my rifle. I have several brands and bullet weights ready to use for barrel break in and sighting in, but was hoping that some people have already come up with load data that I can use as a good starting point.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Eric

Hi all:
I'm back!! Well what I mean is it's spring and time to shoot! I have ordered a couple kegs of Lil Gun and when it gets here this week will be reloading for the Savage Model 40 I made reference to above. It has sat here on my dining table for almost a year now. lol But I plan to shoot it this week after I reload for it. As far as the Savage F/TR goes it still hasn't been shot and also resides on my dining table. BUT I plan to get busy and reload for it too and then actually SHOOT it. When I do I will post the results right here. Thanks.

I’m using Lil’Gun for my .22 Hornet (13grns pushing a 45grn bullet) and it really is an eye opener.
Higher velocities, better accuracy and all combined with lower breech pressures. Very good powder for the little Hornet.

Well I FINALLY shot the Model 40 today. Loaded up with 11 grains of Lil Gun (starting load) and a 45 grain Hornady Hornet bullet (bc=.202). Put a FM 2.5-10X 44mm tactical scope with Weaver Sure-Grip rings on her. This is the first time using the Sure-Grip rings and I must say I really like them. They allow you to adjust the windage like Leupolds do. Boresighted on a milk jug at 100 yards by just looking down the barrel then set up a target at 50 yds. First shot was in line and just about an inch high. Had it sighted in by the 3rd shot. Put up another target at 100 yds to fine tune the zero. Then the fun began: beer cans filled with water. Didn't miss a one I must say. All in all first impression is: I like it a lot.

PS By the way the rings were X-High in gloss (49142). I had to use the tall ones to get enough clearance between the scope and the barrel.
